The twenty-acre NTC campus is situated
at the foothills of the Himalayas. Most
of the students and teachers reside on
campus, thereby making it possible to
have interaction even outside
classrooms. NTC, being only fifteen
years old, is in the process of growth.
Consequently, students will have to
become accustomed to the ongoing
construction activities. A brief
description of the facilities of the
college is as follows:
Library
The NTC Library is housed in a
three-story fifteen-thousand-square-feet
building. It has a choice collection of
over twenty
seven thousand volumes, and it
keeps growing every year. The Library
being the nerve centre of the College,
receives more attention in the process
of development. The Library subscribes
to over eighty scholarly journals,
besides a number of magazines.
A
computer lab with eighteen workstations
is an additional facility in the
library. More computers are expected in
the Computer Lab shortly.
Academic Centre and Multipurpose Hall
Jyothiralayam, the Academic Centre, was
dedicated on April 20, 2002. It is a
twenty-four-thousand-square-feet
building with sixteen lecture halls,
four seminar rooms, fourteen faculty
offices and a large Lobby for informal
gatherings. Apart from this building,
there is a multipurpose hall, which can
seat about 300 people. It is used for
worship services and common gatherings.
An Auditorium of
twenty-six-thousand-square-feet, which
can seat about one thousand people, is
part of the master plan.
Administrative Block
The administrative offices of the
College are housed in three blocks that
cover an area of
twelve-thousand-square-feet.
Accommodation
Hostel:
There are five hostel blocks for men. In
the first four blocks, there are eight
rooms each. These rooms house sixty-four
(double occupancy) male students. The
fifth block has ten rooms, and each room
is designed to house six persons. Plans
have been made for constructing 150
single occupancy rooms for men. Out of
this a block that can accommodate 48 men
has already been completed and is being
used. The rest will be, hopefully ready
for the academic year 2007-2008.
The Lucille Fountain Holliman Hostel is
designed to house forty-eight (three in
a room) female students. This hostel
also has an apartment for the warden for
women and a dining facility for women. A
Women’s hostel of
twenty-thousand-square-feet that can
accommodate 100 students is part of the
master plan.
Each male and female student is provided
with a cot, a cupboard, a study table,
and a chair. The Hostels are built in
such a way that there is one toilet and
a bathroom for four to six students.
Dining
Facility: The Central Dining
Hall of eighteen-thousand-seven-hundred
and fifty-square-feet that can seat 650
people at a time.
Staff
Housing: The College does not
have housing facilities for all the
members of faculty and staff. There are
fifteen apartments/houses on the campus,
most of which are occupied by the
members of the Faculty. Fourteen houses
of thirteen-thousand-square-feet each is
part of the master plan.
